Panoramic trains
Bernina Express & Glacier Express
Would you like to enjoy the fascinating railway lines of the Bernina Express and the Glacier Express in the panorama train wagon? Then hop aboard and experience two of the most spectacular panoramic trains in the world - with MANU Touristik.
Bernina Express
During an impressive crossing of the Alps, the Bernina Express takes you over viaducts, galleries and helical tunnels high up to dazzling glaciers and deep down into Italy's palm paradise, all the way to Tirano. The route of the Bernina Express is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and blends harmoniously into the mountain world of Albula and Bernina. On the Bernina Express, you can buy snacks and drinks at your seat on the train.
Glacier Express
On the Glacier Express, "the slowest express train in the world", you will travel through unique natural landscapes, over mighty mountain rivers and past the rugged rock faces of the Rhine Gorge - the Grand Canyon of Switzerland. At 2,033 metres above sea level, the Oberalp Pass is the highest point on the route before it continues to Andermatt. It is possible to have lunch on the Glacier Express. However, this must be reserved in advance and is not included.
Notes on the Bernina Express and Glacier Express panoramic trains
What is often not known: the routes of the Bernina Express and the Glacier Express are also used by regular trains. This means that you can travel on these rail routes as often as you like with the MANU graubündenPASS.
We recommend all MANU guests to enjoy the routes of the Bernina Express and Glacier Express in the original panorama car at least once - with a beautiful view from the panorama windows, service and without changing trains. For the journey in the opposite direction, use the regular train and you can take photos there undisturbed thanks to the opening windows.
The journeys with the Bernina Express and the Glacier Express can only be booked with MANU as a package (both journeys together). If you only want to travel on one panorama train, you can book the obligatory seat reservation yourself from 90 days before departure at any staffed railway counter (you do not need to purchase an extra ticket, the MANU graubündenPASS is valid as a ticket).
Depending on the weather, you can also try to purchase a seat reservation on the spot. However, due to high demand, it may be difficult to reserve seats on the train you want at short notice.
