Hotel Grischuna becomes MANU Lodge Grischuna

The history of the Hotel Grischuna is closely linked to the construction of the Rhaetian Railway. The "Hotel Bahnhof" was opened at the same time as the Albula Railway in 1903. In the 1960s, the then owner changed the name to "Hotel Grischuna" because he thought that potential guests might avoid his hotel for fear of railroad noise.

Over the past three decades, the Hotel Grischuna has been lovingly run by Reto and Anna Uffer. Railroad enthusiasts from all over the world flock here. As it turns out, guests come to the strategically perfectly located railroad village of Bergün Filisur not despite, but precisely because of the Rhaetian Railway!

From Filisur, you can take the Glacier Express directly to Andermatt or the Bernina Express in the opposite direction to Tirano (Italy) at convenient times. There are direct trains to Chur, Davos and St. Moritz every hour. There are no trains on the timetable between 10 pm and 6 am. In summer, the very popular nostalgia train to Davos also runs from Filisur station. And last but not least, the "Landwasser Express" train takes young and old guests to the world-famous Landwasser Viaduct.

Filisur with its "picture-book railroad station" is the heart of the new andwasserwelt with numerous other attractions. The village of Filisur and the neighboring village of Bergün are known for their pretty Engadine-style houses, decorated with bay windows and artistic sgraffito. Last but not least, the railroad village of Bergün Filisur is also the starting point for numerous exceptionally beautiful hikes along the railroad lines in the Albula and Landwasser valleys.

While Anna and Reto Uffer are now taking their well-deserved retirement, Ekkehard Beller, a resident of Filisur and owner of the tour operator MANU Touristik, is taking over the keys to the hotel. Under new management and with some of the existing staff, a new chapter is to be written in the hotel's success story.
